  • Where I’m from:

I grew up in the small town of Dupo, Illinois, where I spent most of my childhood performing, singing and dancing.  I currently live in Columbia, Illinois with my husband, four children and two doggies.

  • Family:

I am the youngest of three girls. I grew up with a family that had a strong love for music. Growing up singing with my sisters everyday was the norm in our household.  We would sing harmonies and it always made me feel so good to know that people enjoyed listening to me sing.  Singing was my favorite thing to do. From a very young age my sisters were always so encouraging and made me feel so special. It was through the confidence that they had in me which gave me a love for learning not only to sing, but to play multiple instruments.

I enjoyed singing in the choir at church and going on mission trips with my youth group. It was on a mission trip that I met my husband Darren.

Darren and I have been married for 18 wonderful years. He has always been my rock and so supportive of my endeavors. He is the love of my life and my best friend. We have four amazing children together. Three sons and a daughter. Our oldest son Jacob has a love for music as well and enjoys being a part of the Columbia High School marching band, pep band and choir. Our middle sons, Caleb & Micah, enjoy playing sports. They both play football, baseball, and basketball. We spend a lot of time watching them play and develop their skills. I love watching them play! They are so dedicated and it makes me so proud. Our youngest child is our daughter Jocelyn. She loves singing, dancing and performing. She is one of the kindest people I have ever known. Though she is only 6 years old, she is wise beyond her years. My family is my everything and I am so thankful to have all of them in my life.  They bring so much happiness and make my heart so full.

  • Interests:

I love singing, dancing and baking. I own a small cookie business called Josie’s Cookie Jar. I make custom royal icing cookies and teach cookie decorating classes. I am also a girl scout troop leader for my daughters daisy group. I love my girl scouts! They are the sweetest bunch! They are my second family!

I fell in love with Singers Company when my daughter joined last year. I knew it was special because she was so excited to go every week. She would tell me things like, "Mommy do you know that I am special?  Did you know that you are special too!  Everyone is! Everyone is special in their own ways"

I couldn’t believe my five year old was being reached on such a deep level. I watched her grow in confidence as she learned her songs and dances. She was so proud to show us what she learned after every practice when she got home.

I attended my daughter’s first performance and instantly got chills. I watched as some of my girl scouts, who are normally a little on the shy side, came out of their shell. I was amazed watching them sing with such confidence. My daughter performed a solo and watching her eyes light up with pride made me decide right there on the spot that this is what I wanted to do. We live in a society where girls are constantly judged, even worse, they judge themselves. We are told that we are fat or not good enough and as heartbreaking as it is, as young girls and even women, we all buy into it and start believing it sometimes.

Every single girl that day at the performance was beaming with joy!  It was at that moment that I knew I had to be a part of this life changing, confidence building, beautiful, wonderful program!!!  Not only was it everything that I have always loved to do, but I knew I wanted to be the change that so many of us want to see. I wanted to be a part of girls' lives and bring that smile, that joy, that confidence to their tiny faces.

At Singer’s Company I will do everything in my power to teach every girl that they are strong, beautiful, talented, wanted and loved!  That they matter!  I will also teach them to hold others in their heart with kindness. Show everyone grace.  As a Singers Company director I hope to instill a confidence that will last a lifetime. Teaching them not only to love others but to love themselves and all of the qualities that make them uniquely them!  Teaching kindness, confidence, spreading happiness and most importantly having fun!
